Who the heck eats this stuff?
Everyone should. Goat Meat is very healthy and good for you.

Did you know?:
  • 80% of world eats red meat which 60% of that eats goat meat.
  • Majority is consumed by the minority groups, but it can be eaten by all races.
  • Majority of the goat meat in the US is shipped to the east coast, that's why you can't find it in the stores
    in the Midwest.
Is it any good?
You better believe it. The best there ever is!!

I served some with Iowa Pork Chops and those eating ending up setting the chops aside and want the goat
steaks instead.

This year we served some at the Sioux County Fair, huge success. We had pulled goat sandwiches, bar-b-qued
a whole 30 lb carcass, it was gone in half an hour. Also served goat burgers and in an hour sold over 80
burgers. Now this was not the only thing on the menu, there were was Prime Rib, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs,
Brats, etc. I received a lot of positive comments on the goat meat.

This is something that you need to try, you will be surprised with how well it tastes. Just like beef.
Have you ever tried it?
No, why not. You need to.

How to prepare it?
There are a number of ways to cook goat meat: in the oven, crock pot, stove top, grill, bar-b-que. You name a
way to cook beef or pork, you can cook goat the same way. It is just another red meat with less fat and
calories.

Recipes:
Seminar Barbecue
About 30 to 45 Chevon Chops
52 ounce bottle of Bulls Eye (or your favorite) Barbecue Sauce
  1 Can Coke or Pepsi
About 4 shakes of Tobasco Sauce
  A large throw-away turkey pan
Arrange chops two layers deep in turkey pan. Mix together entire bottle of Barbecue Sauce, Coke or
Pepsi and Tobasco Sauce. Pour sauce over chops. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake in 300 degree oven for
about 2 hours or until chops are done. The meat should come off the bone easily. Carefully remove from
oven, drain off some of the liquid, and serve with potato salad, chips, etc.

This was the first chevon that way ever made and it was for our first show held here in Sioux Center. It
went over very well, we feed all of it in about half an hour and people wanted more. They all loved it.
We will still use this recipe for smaller parties or just ourselves, just scale it down a little, chops are very
good.

Grilled/Bar-b-qued Chevon
How should it be grilled. It all depends on your personal flavor. Personally I feel that it can be prepared
like any beef or pork. We typically sprinkle with Lowrys Salt and throw it on the grill. The think that you
need to remember is that chevon should be grilled a little slower, more like pork (I think). The first time I
grilled chevon I grilled it like steak, it turned out dry. Once you figure it out, you will not go back. It is very
very good.
